You know what really grinds my gears…..
You know what really grinds my gears…..
It is a travesty! I can’t believe I never posted these pictures after the big fuss I made about my party!
This was definitely this best party I have ever had; well accept maybe my 21st 😉
All the special people in my life were there and it truly was memorable.
This is the dessert table decorated before the desserts were laid out.
Here’s the recipe for the Torte. Heads up its definitely an advanced recipe http://www.tarteletteblog.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
My party hat! From Paper Nosh
Hello!!! I know it’s been way to long. I get frustrated with technology!
I just moved to NYC with my fiancé. This is the first time I have really been able to redecorate. All I can say is that I’m not having the easiest time! I love French feminine decor and Scott likes black and white and contemporary. All I want is our bedroom to be a sanctuary! I’m posting pics below of how far I have gotten (not far). Any ideas would be great!
My vanity. I just got it. I am getting a Venetian glass mirror to go above and then I am going to hang small pics all around it. In my mind it looks good;)
These are some of the pics I will be hanging.
Hanging across the bed. It’s still missing something.
I hate HATE the roman shade. A built will be built around the radiator with bookcases. Below is what window treatment I want.
This is really frustrating!
Yes, I’m talking about my own! No, not really I wish. Hopefully mine will stand up to that of Versailles, but it will be special in my own way. No, I am talking about Prince William and Kate Middleton. Shortly after I announced my own engagement, Mrs. Middleton had to steal my sunshine. I kid I kid.
I saw some brief exerts on the news and was strangely surprised to see that her engagement ring was a sapphire. My own has sapphire, except very subtly as I like it. Sapphire has a very sentimental value to me. When I was born my Daddy gave my Mom and sapphire and diamond ring. Also my very first Christmas with my fiance, he gave the most magical gift, a sapphire tennis bracelet. I hold the stone close to my heart and hope to wear my mothers as my something blue. Where as Kate Middleton’s ring is not necessarily my style, I do admire it and I also love the fact that it was Princess Diana’s. What do you think of the nontraditional engagement ring of colored stones?
As I was watching news clips, I found it quite funny that William said not once but twice that she will be in alot of trouble if she looses it. I’m sure everyone woman feels that pressure and slight nervousness of wearing the nicest thing she owns on her finger, but Kate takes it to a whole new level!
Can you imagine preparing yourself to be the Princess of England? I’m sure Kate has been being groomed from the beginning, but she is living a true fantasy. As I do not know Kate as well as I would like, (just tea and crumpets a few times hardly makes her my best friend) I think the has a magnanimous look and will be an adoring princess.
Now excuse me for being slightly vain, but I wanted to show you pictures of Kate Middleton’s ring and my own:
She is easily rocking a five carte!
Ok this is not her ring, but I had to include it. Middleton has been rumored to be engaged many times as she has been with William for so long, but where did this ring come from! Gaw wouldn’t it be nice just to have a no reason gift like this:
And here is my own pretty. This is the ring it was cast from. It is not mine, only the original.
There are french cut sapphires set under the diamond
Ok I’m giving away a huge secret here! This is my favorite website . This is where I got my Halloween costume. I don’t usually tell people about this because I like being original and if everyone knew about I wouldn’t be. People on the West Coast may laugh at me and say this is no secret, but us East Coasters are missing out. Don’t be fooled by the name, everything is custom-made. Most Girls Next Door costumes are from here, they do tons of movies. I’m pretty sure Christina Aguilar’s new movie Burlesque uses costumes from there. I am totally getting my wedding lingerie from here 😉 P.s . I accept gifts
Here are some highlight:
Ok so I’m not kidding this is a big deal for me to share! Let me know how you like the site!
I love coming home for the holidays. Seeing my family and friends that I haven’t seen in awhile. And this year I have something very special to celebrate… I’m engaged! Wooo hooo!!! You know those 4.5 years pining for a diamond have finally paid off! I put my time and was greatly rewarded. I kid I kid. I’m very much in love and so happy. I wonder if I can get my wedding in a magazine? Or Say Yes to the Dress? It is right by my house in Atlanta!
I will say it is funny though, Scott and I are so much nicer now to each other, and he seems to have gotten more attractive! hahah! I have a few photos to post and will continue.
On another note I want to share with you the culinary treats I will be making when I go home. I have been making these for a few years and they are an explosive hit. Check out Epicurious.com This site is the best. It is a compilation of recipes from great magazines such as Gourmet, Bon Appetit, Food and Wine and many more.
Pumpkin Cheesecake: I wish I had a picture, ut trust me it’s delicious and looks like a oiece of art. We the cake is cooled and ready to be served you dribble carmel on the top and run through it with a knife to get a fantastic design. The crust is made with gingersnap cookies and pecans! The cookies and nuts give it such a perfect holiday spice taste. I also sub some of the regular cream cheese with low fat or fat free and mix it with the regular. You can’t tell the difference and it makes it just a little less bad for you 😉
You may have heard them referred to as other things like snowballs or wedding cookies. Don’t be fooled by imitations these are the best! I always have to make a double batch, because about 6 people intend on taking some home. They are made with mostly butter, powdered sugar, and toasted pecans. These cookies literally melt in your mouth and they make such a pretty display.
I always find it helpful on any recipe site to search by rating. I know that by doing this I will not be disappointed in what I make. Also, always check the reviews. You will be surprised that some reviews have great advice. for example adding more nutmeg to the dish because the recipe doesn’t call for enough or use a different kind of pan because the one the recipe recommends isn’t the best option. I have been able to perfect recipes by doing this!
I just found the perfect edible decoration for my party. Cake pops! I can’t even type fast enough to keep up with what I found on this site. I am by no means the first to discover her; maybe I’m just late to the game. She was featured on Martha Stewart (aka God) making these cute cupcake pops I plan on using at my party.
Basically you take cake, mix it with icing, form shape and dip in chocolate. I will post the directions here. But also check it out at Bakerella.com
Red Velvet Cake Balls
1 box red velvet cake mix (cook as directed on box for 13 X 9 cake)
1 can cream cheese frosting (16 oz.)
1 package chocolate bark (regular or white chocolate)
1. After cake is cooked and cooled completely, crumble into large bowl.
2. Mix thoroughly with 1 can cream cheese frosting. (It may be easier to use fingers to mix together, but be warned it will get messy.)
3. Roll mixture into quarter size balls and lay on cookie sheet. (Should make 45-50. You can get even more if you use a mini ice cream scooper, but I like to hand roll them.)
4. Chill for several hours. (You can speed this up by putting in the freezer.)
5. Melt chocolate in microwave per directions on package.
6. Roll balls in chocolate and lay on wax paper until firm. (Use a spoon to dip and roll in chocolate and then tap off extra.)
I also only melt a few pieces of chocolate bark at a time because it starts to cool and thicken. It’s easier to work with when it’s hot.
To be extra girly I think I am also going to make these hat cookies:
I can’t wait to tell my expert baking friend Jenny! She is going to be all over this like white on rice.
I am going to make these macaroons the centerpiece!
I was introduced to this brand by one of my coolest most stylish friends. She lived abroad in Paris. This designer is one of her discoveries; Les Nereides. Some pieces are magnificently embellished while others are just quirky. All are handpainted, embroidered or styled with miniature pearls and Swarovski crystal inlays. Either way these pieces will get you noticed; and what’s even better is that you’ll be original because this line isn’t sold state-side.
I have these earrings. I always get stopped because they are so unusual except why didn’t anyone thing of it before!
Here are some other unique pieces:
There are earrings and bracelets that match
Gorgeous enamel necklace. This is the kind of detail displayed in all of their work.
Perhaps the most elaborate collection:
