Electronic cigarettes. You’re not as cool you think

You know what really grinds my gears…..

Electronic cigarettes
You don’t look cool. All of a sudden people are “lighting g up” their faux cigs and being like “oh I’m saving the world”. It’s like being a vegitarian and eating eggs. Electronic cigs were invented to help addicts quit. Now I don’t know what the fudge it’s about.
One ascot wearing straight guy said to me tonight ” it’s because you can’t smoke in most places in NYC”. I said wtf because that punk wearing the flower covered varsity jacket in front of me is leaving a trail of cancer behind him. It looks like he farted death.
You can’t smoke anymore in NYC? Then why are you still blowing carcinogens in my face. I call bullshit. This is merely trendsetting at its worst. Honestly I’m pretty sure the “trendsetters” have a  weekly convention in a subway station where they scope out the homeless people where they get their inspiration on fashion from. My next post will be going into hipsters, which mind you I invented the word.
So this is what I have to say to you Nyc followers who think you are trendy…. You’re not new. You’re not the catalyst in trendsetting. You are not the first  person on the scene with them.  In fact your 2000 and late.
So in conclusion just because you’re not lighting up doesn’t mean your saving yourself any grief. You are  still inhaling toxins…. and pissing me off.

Hot child in the city

Hello!!! I know it’s been way to long. I get frustrated with technology!

I just moved to NYC with my fiancé. This is the first time I have really been able to redecorate. All I can say is that I’m not having the easiest time! I love French feminine decor and Scott likes black and white and contemporary. All I want is our bedroom to be a sanctuary! I’m posting pics below of how far I have gotten (not far). Any ideas would be great!

My vanity. I just got it. I am getting a Venetian glass mirror to go above and then I am going to hang small pics all around it. In my mind it looks good;)

These are some of the pics I will be hanging.

Hanging across the bed. It’s still missing something.

My inspiration! http://parisapartment.wordpress.com/

I hate HATE the roman shade. A built will be built around the radiator with bookcases. Below is what window treatment I want.

This is really frustrating!

Be unique. French designer Les Nereides

I was introduced to this brand by one of my coolest most stylish friends. She lived abroad in Paris. This designer is one of her discoveries; Les Nereides. Some pieces are magnificently embellished while others are just quirky. All are handpainted, embroidered or styled with miniature pearls and Swarovski crystal inlays. Either way these pieces will get you noticed; and what’s even better is that you’ll be original because this line isn’t sold state-side.

I have these earrings. I always get stopped because they are so unusual except why didn’t anyone thing of it before!

Here are some other unique pieces:

Dancing Ballerinas!

Circus performers

There are earrings and bracelets that match

Gorgeous enamel necklace. This is the kind of detail displayed in all of their work.

Perhaps the most elaborate collection:

Being Fancy!

This weekend was full of fun events! These are some of my highlights:

On Friday I went to a surprise Masquerade party for Robert Lang of Robert Lang Studios in Charleston, Sc. He was throughly surprised. So what makes this fancy you ask? Well most things I do are particularly fancy, but this one was special. It was at a penthouse at The Tides. It is right by the Arthur Ravenell bridge and had the most breath taking view.

I was so happy to use this occasion to whip out my black tie dress that I wore once for New Years eve two years ago in NYC. I also made my own mask. I found Fimo clay that I hadn’t used since I was a kid, but hey it was free! It was a catered event by Cru Cafe, which is a wonderful restaurant in Charleston. The cake was amazing too. It was done by one of their friends who is the pastry chef at Whole Foods. It was three-tiered. The top tier was pound cake, the middle what brownie-pound cake-brownie and the bottom was a hollowed out chocolate cake filled with Reese’s Pieces! The whole thing was covered in chocolate ganache. I binge ate this weekend 😉

If I lived in Paris, were French, or could just afford it… my house would look like this

My brother posted this on my face book wall. Its’ about Herve Pierre’s home in NYC. Herve Peirre is the creative designer for Caroline Herrera. Notice The framed pictures in an elaborate frame:

I am attempting to do something like this in my house. The frame will not be as massive. I have some antique illustrations from Arthur Rickham of “The Tempest.” I am getting them matted and framed in smaller frames to make a similar piece of art. What do you think? Do you like Herve’s style or is it a little cluttered?

This will be the first of many posts about Marie Antoinette. Ever since I visited Versailles when I was younger and saw the grandeur of the of the palace, I have been fascinated by the glitz and glamor of the French royalty, mainly Marie Antoinette.

Girlfriend has got a bad rep… I will save the history lesson, but just know that she and Louis XVI inherited a terrible debt left by their predessor. The were doomed from the start. And just to let you know it is not true that Marie Antoinette said ” Let them eat cake.”

Although there wasn’t Perezhilton.com back then, there were still gossip columns and this was one piece of gossip that spread to infamy.

This weekend there was a fabulous Halloween party and I was… Marie Antoinette! I have had this costume since last December and spent way to much money and time on it, but I love it!

All that Glitters
